As we all know everyone is different from one and another. Yet living in same house even siblings differs from one another. A new research being published in an open access journal of Behavioral Science and Psychology, researchers have made an analysis of eye color which tends to bring changes in people’s mood and behavior.
For most of the people shorter days and icier temperatures bring happiness to few and they enjoy cozy nights sitting by fire place and having a mug of coffee. While for few it’s just boring where every activity is ceased and they want a long blossom day with light winds. So, such behaviors persist from environment to environment and person to person.
But according to these researchers, they have explained a different phenomenon where eye color to some extent brings changes in the moods and behaviors of the people. They found that people with or light colored eyes scored lower on the questionnaire designed for their check in weight, sleep, seasonal variability in mood, appetite and social activity. While people with brown or dark colored eyes scored more on this questionnaire.
The study was made on undergraduate and graduate students of South Wales and Cyprus with data of 175 along with an average age of 24.
Researchers have explained that how this eye color affects the moods and behaviors. This is basically the amount of light which an individual person absorbs through the retina of his/her eye and he/she is able to look at the image. At the university of South Wales, this week on the website ‘The Conversation’ Lance Workman, PhD, the study leads author and a visiting professor said that the reason eye color bring changes to some peoples mood and behaviors is that how much they are susceptible to mood changes or depression, which is ultimately being affected by the amount/intensity of light our eye stores.
Eyes with less shade blue or dim color, for instance are progressively touchy to light, he clarified further, which implies they don’t have to assimilate as much for their retinal cells to get and process pictures. That additionally implies that as it may, be the individuals with lighter eyes discharge less melatonin in the fall and winter.
Melatonin is a hormone created by the body that encourages us progress to rest. Yet, a few specialists trust that an excess of melatonin or an less amount of melatonin and serotonin, another state of mind directing hormone may make individuals feel sluggish or discouraged.
Subsequently, Workman composed, light-peered toward individuals who create less melatonin may have “some flexibility to occasional emotional confusion,” in spite of the fact that he calls attention to that it’s no guarantee against wintertime sadness.
Past research has likewise proposed that individuals with darker or dim eyes are bound to be depressed than those with postnatal anxiety. Laborer calls attention to that blue eyes will in general happen in individuals living more remote far from the equator and recommends that this transformation “may have happened as an ‘against SAD’ (seasonal affective disorder) adjustment” for these populaces who live with shorter days all year.
Workman elaborates further that obviously it is not only the eye color that determines for a person to have seasonal affective disorder or not. Most of the times people who spend their time in indoor activities and they are only exposed to artificial light may have such disorder and it may affect their mood and behavior. For instance people who regularly go outside for a walk especially when its sunny they have better mood than those who just stay inside the home.
So, the thing which is important to peoples mood and behavior is ‘light’ for which if a person lives in an area where there are less sunny days he/she can use a light box to improve their mood and eventually it will overcome their SAD symptoms apart from the matter that which eye color that person has.
