VIBE (VIBE): The Coin Taking Live Music into Virtual/Augmented Reality

At the Coachella music festival in California six years ago, virtual reality and live music had their first meaningful encounter in the modern age. All global news outlets were talking about after the Tupac hologram that performed on stage with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. Suddenly, an artist that people knew and loved was right in front of their eyes – and it caused some big waves. Sure, technically it wasn’t a hologram (it was a 2D projection that made it look 3D), but that moment was still when a lot of us realized what sort of potential that augmented reality technology has when it comes to live music. That’s where the Vibe coin comes in today.

AR, VR, Music and Blockchain Technology

That was in 2012. Virtual and augmented reality has come a long way since then. There are already a lot of advanced VR and AR headsets that can generate some visually stunning graphics these days.

It was only a matter of time until some startup out there started to fuse the concepts of blockchain technology with the possibilities that VR and AR have to offer – and that’s the VIBE (VIBE) coin.

This project is already on its way to making VR and AR more of a household activity – and it goes way beyond just streaming concerts from home while feeling like you’re there, in person, watching the show.

Why is the VIBE coin trading higher today?

If you follow cryptocurrency markets on a daily basis, you have probably noticed that the VIBE coin is gaining a lot today. In fact, it is up 31.4% at the time of writing (compared to its price 24 hours ago). Meanwhile, most cryptocurrency choices in the top 25 are in the red today, with the exception of a few – like this one and Status (SNT).

The reason for this particular coin surging while most of its competitors are falling is probably due to a piece of hype news. One of the founders will be featured in a Superbowl commercial today with a member of the band Aerosmith – and he will be wearing a Vibe logo.

That’s a whole lot of exposure. The Superbowl is notorious for getting some of the most commercial viewers all year. That can explain today’s price bump.

But the underlying project behind this crypto coin is also what’s bringing investors into the fold.

What is Vibe (VIBE)?

This platform is being developed into a marketplace for artists, educators, and more to broadcast and monetize virtual and augmented reality streams directly to their fans. It’s a decentralized platform built on the Ethereum (ETH) network, where there is no middle man – and NO FEES or GAS.

Vibe coin transactions are free, on top of all that. This platform is seeking to pay publishers in a fair and transparent way.

As per their roadmap, it says that the “first of many VR performances” will be available as live streams on the beta platform sometime before the end of Q2 2018. But, for now, the beta platform is only in a test phase.

Is today’s boost about the potential of this project? Or is it just Superbowl hype?
